Doubting, and doing it anyway
Jun 09, 2026
If you've followed along with us for any amount of time, you know that there is a huge season of growth happening at SEAR.
Growth is defined as the process of developing or maturing physically, mentally or spiritually; or the process of increasing in amount, value or importance.
Yes, that's what Suzee and I are after. Maturing as business owners and coaches (always in pursuit of personally developing mentally or spiritually!), and assisting others in doing the same by providing value that you can count on in this community.
Growth isn't easy. I actually think it's scary, mainly because I don't like the unknown. Sure, I like the idea of getting somewhere new or increasing value or importance. But when I look at those definitions and I think about what I don't like, I have to admit that it's that word PROCESS.
I'm in an Oxford Dictionary state of mind, so I looked that word up too:
"Process - noun, a series of actions or steps taken in order to achieve a particular end."
The scary (and dare I say repulsive) part of a process can be those actions or steps, especially when I haven't done them before or I am unsure.
I'm getting somewhere with this, I promise ....
What I'm describing about unknowns and fears and "what actions do I actually even do next?" was exactly how I felt when Suzee talked about her use of AI. I had a reaction that was basically like "stop talking about that" because I didn't want to learn it and venture into that great unknown.
I had resistance. I was happy to let her just do all of the AI for us. But, I did have a nagging feeling that I was missing out on a whole other world because I didn't know where to start or how I might mess things up if I did something wrong.
So, what began with a simple question from someone in the community on how we see AI changing the landscape of coaching led us to the process of figuring out how we could help others smartly use this new way of working. And, we did what SEAR does best, and we engaged in the conversation about AI together, with an expert.
All of a sudden the PROCESS of what steps to take seemed less out of reach to me and possibilities of where I could use this new technology seemed exciting! We are hoping what we've learned sparks that in you too.
OK, so I'm not actually here to convince you to use AI. BUT, if you are AI-curious, we are inviting you to grab our free 10-minute workshop that came out of our learnings around AI: How to Use AI as a Coach Without Risking Everything You Worked For. You can sign up to have it delivered to your inbox when it drops on June 19th. Even if you are already an AI expert yourself, we offer thoughts and tips around using it in your practice that you may not have considered.
This workshop was developed as a result of a masterclass we had with Bower Himes, that AI Expert I mentioned above. If you are a member of our community, check it out in the Practice Lab Insider Library.
Breaking down the process
What I loved about the conversation is that we broke down the process to be a place to start from...the first steps. Which someone like me needs, especially when I'm skeptical. You will literally come away with a to do list - which, when I'm digesting something new and feel like I'm in overwhelm, I need.
Doing it together
And I will keep saying it, but one of my favorite things about what we are building at SEAR is that we engaged in learning the PROCESS together. Armed with a real question from our community, tapping an expert who could shed a lot of light, and fumbling through the steps (think trial and error prompts) with a cohort of people all looking to figuring out the same thing ... that made this doable and enjoyable.
This is the value we are looking to create for Insiders, on many, many topics relevant to us. Opportunities to not have to "go it alone" in the world of coaching. Sign up to get our free workshop on AI and grow with us!
And we know there is a craving for this collaboration all around us. Suzee and I have been seeking out the best communities for growth in our new business and have found several resources that we LOVE.
One such community has been through our business coach, James Wedmore. We found him when we signed up for his free training one year ago. Talk about process driven information! Our minds have been blown. He's offering that FREE training experience again soon. Check it out if you want a different way to think about business, especially online businesses. FUN FACT: This community was how we met Bower!
